Three-Way Calling

Talk to two people in separate locations at the same time. This great feature brings up to three people together on one call to simplify planning social engagements or activities. Three-Way Calling can connect both local and long distance calls. Use the Call Transfer feature (described below) to transfer your calls between two people.

You can pay a flat monthly fee for Thee-Way Calling, or pay $.75 per use.

How to use Three Way Calling on Demand

  • For Three-Way calling on demand, pick up the receiver and press *71 (Rotary 1171).
  • You will hear a second dial tone. Dial the number of the first person you wish to call.
  • Press and release the switchhook to put the first person on hold.
  • You will hear three brief tones and a normal dial tone. Call the second party. At this point you have two separate conversations.
  • To connect all three of you together, press and release the switchhook again.
  • To hang up the second call, press and release the switchhook once again. The original call is ended when the first person hangs up.
  • If the second person doesn't answer: Press the switchhook twice to cancel. Continue talking to the first person.
  • To end the call: When you hang up the phone, the remaining two parties will be able to continue their conversation. Your telephone line will not be engaged, however all toll charges will be billed to you.

How to use Three-Way Calling when it is active on your line

  • To connect a second party to your current call: Press and release the switchhook to put the first person on hold.
  • You will hear three brief tones and a normal dial tone. Call the second party. At this point you have two separate conversations.
  • To connect all three of you together, press and release the switchhook again.
  • To hang up the second call: Press and release the switchhook once again.
  • If the second person doesn't answer: Press the switchhook twice to cancel. Continue talking to the first person.
  • Measured service and long distance charges may apply for completed calls. Call Transfer is activated, so the remaining two parties will be able to continue their conversation after you hang up. Your telephone line will not be engaged, however all toll charges will be billed to you.

Call Transfer

Now you can transfer calls between two parties. Call Transfer is an enhancement to Three-Way Calling that allows you to transfer to any established third party. It functions like Three-Way Calling except you can hang up and the call can continue between the two other parties on the line.

How to use Call Transfer

  • To connect a second party to your current call: Press and release the switchhook to put the first person on hold.
  • You will hear a second dial tone, then dial the number to which you wish to transfer the call.
  • Listen for the ring then simply hang up. The second and third parties will be connected.*
  • To connect all three of you together: Press and release the switchhook again. All parties can talk together until you hang up, allowing the second and third parties to remain connected.*
  • To talk to the third party before transferring the call, wait for the third party to answer. You can talk as long as you like, then hang up. The second and third parties will remain connected.**
