Call Waiting
Don't miss important calls when you're on the phone. Call Waiting lets you take a second call without ending your first conversation. When you're talking on the phone, a special tone alerts you that someone is calling. Call Waiting also includes Cancel Call Waiting which enables you to turn the feature off before making an important call, or before dialing up to your Internet Service Provider.
How to use Call Waiting
- When you hear the Call Waiting tone, quickly press and release the switchhook or flash key to put the first call on hold and answer the second call.
- Press the switchhook again to switch between callers.
- A party is removed when they hang up.
How to temporarily cancel Call Waiting with a call in progress (requires activation of Three-Way Calling)*
- Press and release the switchhook or flash key to put your call on hold.
- Listen for three brief tones and a normal dial tone, then press *70 (Rotary 1170).
- Press and release the switchhook again to continue your original call with no Call Waiting interruptions.
- When you hang up, Call Waiting will be restored.
*If Three-Way Calling is not activated, you will be charged a 75¢ per use fee
How to temporarily cancel Call Waiting with no call in progress
- To place a call without Call Waiting active on the line, lift the receiver and press *70 (rotary press 1170). When you hear the normal dial tone, Call Waiting is turned off. This procedure works on a call-by-call basis; after each call is completed, Call Waiting will re-activate on the line.
